I spent my first day in The Gambia locked inside the room of my guesthouse, fasting and praying for direction. That direction came in the form of a security guard named Prince who issued a personal invitation to join him on Sunday morning.
It was here, at the TGM Church, that I encountered a humble 24-year-old teacher who has been called by God to lead others into intimacy with the King.
Unlike many worship leaders, when David’s fingers touch the keys he is immediately in the Throne Room. There’s no build up to a big crescendo or any fancy antics. He is a worshipper through and through, yet has an interesting call to help connect the frequencies of music into the realm of science. He also plays an array of musical instruments ranging from the drums to the guitar to the flute to the violin. David is truly a worshipper, as his name implies.
On Christmas morning, we were given a great gift: “For the Nations”. We’re praying and fasting for 40-days to see a monumental shift in The Gambia. Each morning, we give our first fruits of prayer and worship to the Lord together. On this particular morning, when I showed up at 7:45 for our 8am gathering, David was already on the keys. I thought he was playing a song that he knew, but God gave it to him that morning. An important prophetic declaration was released in the midst of worship. While it’s not yet time to share the complete word (as it’s sealed away for now), the worship set ended the way it began: with a song “For the Nations”.
David tends to stay behind the scenes, working in the background to make various ministries thrive, yet entirely hidden from the limelight. For example, he serves as the musical accompaniment to his best friend Emmanuel Anderson (a prolific undiscovered Ghanan worship leader who will shift the nations through sound and lyrics). Emmanuel is releasing his first worship album in June.
David did not ask me to do this, but I know this song is important: I asked Emmanuel to add it as a bonus track on his album since this song was released in the Spirit when the three of us (David, Emmanuel and I) were worshipping together. If you hear the video and believe—as I do—that this song will touch the nations, consider supporting David.
David has never had anyone truly believe in him. I do, and I believe you will too after you experience the presence of the Lord while he is worshipping.
Working with Emmanuel and David is one of the three reasons I am in The Gambia!
NOTE: I am not putting a giving cap on this giving section because many of you may be interested in supporting David in different ways. He’s currently sleeping on the floor of the pastor’s office in the church and working as a science teacher in the local school where he earns an annual salary of less than $2000. He doesn’t feel fulfilled in his current situation and knows he is called to full time worship. Consider funding the next stage of his journey.]
I love this guy and am excited to write the testimony behind this success story! Help make that happen quickly by being a part of David’s story!
MINISTRY UPDATE:
Thanks to generous donations from readers just like you, the funding was secured to help David record his first worship song “For the Nations”.
See the powerful testimony here.
RESPONSIBLE GIVING:
I am careful about the way in which I fund individuals who have not managed “large sums of money” before. The first funds will go directly to Emmanuel Anderson who has already produced 10 other songs on his first album with the producer we will be using. Additional funds collected for David will be given in a respectful and responsible way that honors David and teaches basic money management principles.
It’s an honor to have you with me on this JOURNEY.
I pray that the testimonies from my adventures will bless you and encourage you in your own faith walk. The single biggest thing you can do to support me is to subscribe to the AL3XAND3R update and share it with your friends. I’m Gr8ful.
If you have any comments, I’d love to hear from you!
