TL;DR: Your generous financial gifts helped David record his first worship song. Moreover, God showed off by using the precise timing of events to confirm His sovereignty!
I met David Omoti leading worship on my first Sunday in The Gambia. He was singing a Paul Wilbur classic that gets me every time.
David shared his testimony publicly that morning: he grew up in a broken home with a father from Nigeria and mother from Sierra Leone, yet he found himself stranded here in The Gambia without identification. Days before I arrived, he finally received his passport after years of waiting.
I met Emmanuel Anderson the same day, leading worship in an entirely different location. He played a few chords on the guitar and I began to cry.
Emmanuel and I connected immediately as I knew he was the first reason why God called me to The Gambia. Turns out, he is also the main worship leader at the small Church where I met David Omoti (yet I would not connect those dots until a month into my stay when Emmanuel was instrumental in orchestrating 40 days of prayer and fasting for the OIC).
NOTE: On my first day of exploration in The Gambia, I met David and Emmanuel separately—both leading worship—in completely different locations, seemingly unconnected (1 of 3 ). A month later, after I heard the Lord tell me to pray consistently every morning for 40 days at the Church closest to the OIC, I realized they actually lead worship together at the exact place where the Lord directed me to pray (2 of 3).
If that weren’t enough, due to a clerical error on the part of the customs official, I was given two more days than originally anticipated, making reason 3 of 3 possible). During my bonus days, donations came in from generous subscribers to specifically help David Omoti record his first worship song “For The Nations”.
Literally, within hours of funds clearing, I went to an ATM, pulled out cash and notified the two worship leaders I met on my first day in The Gambia that on my last night in the nation, we could record the song the Lord gifted the three of us on Christmas morning during the 40 days of prayer and fasting.
And so… on my last night in The Gambia, I sat with David Omoti and Emmanuel Anderson in the studio of a talented Nigerian Gospel music producer and we stayed up all night recording two songs: “For the Nations” and “It is Well”
So many dots connecting!
I call our Father the Master Weaver, because we often have no idea what simple acts of obedience are creating behind the scenes. It may look chaotic, yet when we’re walking in God’s will, we can look back to see that each individual thread was necessary to create an incredibly intricate tapestry.
I am absolutely in awe!
When you finally get to hear the music you helped produce, I believe you too will be in awe! Know that you are part of the story and this journey in Africa would not be possible without you!
As you can see, your gifts are making a HUGE difference in West Africa. Now that these songs have been recorded, I am focused on raising support for the strategy God released during 40 days of prayer and fasting for the OIC. You can learn more about that here.
Our songs are currently with the producer being mixed, edited and sweetened. Subscribe to be the first to hear them when they are released…
It’s an honor to have you with me on this JOURNEY.
I pray that the testimonies from my adventures will bless you and encourage you in your own faith walk. The single biggest thing you can do to support me is to subscribe to the AL3XAND3R update and share it with your friends. I’m Gr8ful.
If you have any comments (or if you have any words of encouragement for David Omoti and Emmanuel Anderson), we would love to hear from you!
Truly amazing!
